Apollo Season Set To Open, LIC Standings, Schedule

Apollo Conference football teams had a tough time last week in the final week of non-conference action.

The six squads gave up a total of 295 points while scoring only 34. Effingham's loss to Centralia was the closest game of the night. The Hearts fell 28-6.

In other games, Mount Zion scored 22 points and on a given night that might have been enough to win but they faced Jerseyville Jersey who scored 66 points. The only other touchdown on the night came from Salem who fell to Carterville 41-6. Clifton Central blanked Paris 62-0, Highland won over Mattoon 56-0 and Chatham Glenwood downed Charleston 42-0.

Conference play begins Friday night as Effingham travels to Charleston. Mount Zion is at Mattoon and Paris travels to Salem.

The Little Illini Conference began its conference season last week. Robinson stands atop the Egyptian Division standings with a 1-0 conference mark and a 3-0 overall standard. Casey-Westfield holds down the top spot in the Eastern Division with a 1-0 conference mark and a 3-0 overall record.
