The season is likely over for New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez. ESPN reports Sanchez has a labral tear in his right shoulder and will likely have surgery. Sanchez is expected to make a decision in the next few days on whether to have surgery or try to rehab the shoulder in an effort to play later this season. Sanchez is currently the backup QB after losing the starting job to rookie Geno Smith.

 

Lions' Suh Appealing Fine

(Allen Park, MI) -- Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong is appealing his fine by the NFL. Suh was hit with a 100-thousand-dollar penalty by the league for a low block to the legs of Minnesota center John Sullivan in Sunday's season opener.  It happened during an interception return. The former Nebraska star has been fined multiple times for personal fouls since coming into the league in 2010.

 

Cops To Wear Niners Gear In Seattle

(Renton, WA) -- The Seahawks will take extra precaution for Sunday's contest against the rival San Francisco 49ers.  The team will have undercover law enforcement officers dress as Niner fans to detect unwanted and inconsiderate behavior. Seattle president Peter McLoughlin says the goal is to make sure the game atmosphere is safe for all the fans in attendance.

 

Five SEC Football Players Received Benefits

Five SEC football players reportedly received improper benefits from multiple NFL agents and financial advisers before the end of their college careers. Yahoo! Sports says the benefits were funneled through former Alabama defensive end Luther Davis to Alabama's D.J. Fluker, Tennessee's Tyler Bray and Maurice Couch and Mississippi State's Fletcher Cox and Chad Bumphis. Davis is alleged to have acted as an intermediary between the agents and advisers and the five players.
