The Effingham Hearts football team lost more than a game Friday night; they also lost their starting quarterback.

Hearts Coach Mike McDonald confirmed Saturday that junior Kevin Daugherty's collarbone was broken when hit late in the game against Paxton-Buckley-Loda.  Coach McDonald said it's estimated Daugherty will be out four to six weeks "if we're lucky", meaning he should be back late in the season.

McDonald said Dylan Wolff is expected to take over as Hearts quarterback while Daugherty is out.

Effingham is off to an 0-2 start after the narrow loss to P-B-L Friday.  The Hearts play host to Centralia this Friday night.
