(Denver, CO) -- Peyton Manning threw for 462 yards and tied the NFL-record with seven touchdown passes, as the Broncos opened up the 2013 season with a 49-27 rout of the defending Super Bowl champion Ravens at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Manning is the sixth quarterback in league history to throw seven TD's in a game and first since Minnesota's Joe Kapp in 1969. Manning says they couldn't let up against a team like the Ravens.

Demaryius Thomas had five catches for 161 yards and two TD's, while Wes Welker and Julius Thomas also had two scores each for the Broncos, who put up 28 straight points to open the second half en route to the lopsided victory. Welker had a game-high nine catches in his Broncos debut. Joe Flacco finished 34-of-62 for 362 yards with two TD's and two interceptions for the Ravens, who are coming off their second title in franchise history. Ray Rice found the end zone but finished with just 71 yards of total offense. The 49 points allowed by Baltimore are the most in franchise history. The start of the game was delayed over 30 minutes due to lightning.

This is also the first game for new head coach Marc Trestman, who took over for Lovie Smith.
