(Champaign, IL) -- Illinois will take on Cincinnati this Saturday at Memorial Stadium. The Fighting Illini got off to a good start with a 42-34 win over Southern Illinois last week.  The Bearcats also won their opener with a 42-7 beatdown of Purdue.

 

Northwestern Prepares For Syracuse

(Evanston, IL) -- Northwestern is getting ready for a clash with Syracuse. The Wildcats will try to move to 2-0 on the season as they welcome the Orange to Ryan Field Saturday. The 'Cats beat Cal last weekend to open the season while Syracuse lost to Penn State. Northwestern jumped from 22nd up to 20th in this week's "USA Today" Top-25 Poll.

 

Bears Start Preparations For Bengals

(Lake Forest, IL -- The Bears will be on the practice field today for game-week preparations prior to Sunday's opener against the Bengals at Soldier Field. Tuesday Chicago released its first official depth chart which featured veteran D.J. Williams as the starting middle linebacker over Jon Bostic. Williams was injured during the preseason while Bostic took reps with the starters.

 

Rams Face Cardinals Sunday

(St. Louis, MO) -- The Rams open the NFL season on Sunday at the Edward Jones Dome against a division opponent. The Arizona Cardinals will be in town. This will be the 12th time the two teams have faced each other in Week One and the Rams have won seven of those games.

 

Texans Extend LB Cushing

(Houston, TX) -- The Houston Texans are extending linebacker Brian Cushing. The 2009 first-round pick has signed a six-year deal worth over $55-million. Cushing played in just five games last season after a suffering a torn ACL. Prior to that, he had only missed four career games while serving a suspension for a positive test for a banned substance.

 

E.J. Manuel Healthy Enough To Start For Bills

(Orchard Park, NY) -- The Buffalo Bills are sticking to the manual at quarterback. FOX Sports is reporting that first-round pick E.J. Manuel has recovered from his knee injury and will make the start when the Bills host the New England Patriots in the season opener. Undrafted rookie Jeff Tuel had previously been in line to take the starting snaps.
