Broncos' Miller Suspended Six Games

(Englewood, CO) -- The Denver Broncos will be without linebacker Von Miller for a portion of the season. Miller is being suspended six games for violating the NFL's drug policy.  He issued a statement saying that although his penalty doesn't result from a positive test, there is no excuse for his violation of the rules. He apologized for hurting his team, Broncos fans and himself. The suspension without pay will cost Miller more than $800,000 in salary.

 

Vick, Weeden Win Quarterback Battles

Quarterbacks Michael Vick and Brandon Weeden have won their respective position battles. Vick has been named the Philadelphia Eagles starter by new head coach Chip Kelly. He beat out Nick Foles for the job. Weeden has impressed new head coach Rob Chudzinski this preseason to win the Cleveland Browns QB role. He had been battling with veteran Jason Campbell.

 

1972 Dolphins Visit White House

(Washington, DC) -- The only team in NFL history to win the Super Bowl with an unbeaten season is being honored in Washington, D.C. The 1972 Miami Dolphins paid a Tuesday visit to President Obama at the White House. The Dolphins presented Obama with a jersey sporting the number 72 and signed by all the players. Miami went 14-0 that season, then won all three playoff games including Super Bowl Seven to finish a perfect 17-and-0.  The 2007 New England Patriots went 16-and-0 during the regular season, then won two playoff games before losing Super Bowl 42 to finish 18-1.
