Patriots' Belichick Says He Was Shocked To Learn Of Hernandez Arrest

(Foxboro, MA) -- New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick says he was stunned when he first learned of the murder investigation involving now former tight end Aaron Hernandez.

Belichick addressed reporters yesterday for the first time since Hernandez was arrested late last month. The 23-year-old Florida product is accused of first-degree murder in the shooting death of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.  Belichick says he is disappointed and hurt in a situation like this, but they will learn from this terrible experience and become a better team. The Patriots released Hernandez the day he was arrested.

 

RG3 Says No Need To Rush Back For Preseason Games

(Richmond, VA) -- Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin the Third says there is no need for him to rush back to play in exhibition games next month.

RG3 spoke with reporters Wednesday as rookies, quarterbacks and select veterans reported for training camp.  Griffin underwent surgery in January to repair two damaged ligaments in his right knee. He was originally injured in a Week 14 win over Baltimore and then got hurt again in the Redskins' Wild Card playoff loss to Seattle.  The former Heisman Trophy winner passed for 3,200 yards and added 815 more on the ground as a rookie last season.
