The 39th annual Illinois High School Shrine All-Star Football Game is being held Saturday, July 13 on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU). Festivities begin that day with the Shriners hosting a mini clinic from 9-11 a.m. at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Suite 100. Families and children can come learn more about the services provided by Shriners Hospitals for Children®, where kids up to age 18 can receive care for certain conditions regardless of their ability to pay. Applications will be available onsite.

A Shrine parade celebrating the game will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Front Street and head north on McLean Street. Jesse White Tumblers and the Prairie Thistle Band will be featured in the parade along with many Shrine parade units from throughout the state. This exciting journey through downtown Bloomington will end near the football stadium, where the pre-game festivities will be underway. Kick-off between the East and West teams, comprised of 80 of the state’s best football players, will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. with the pregame starting at 5:45 p.m. Come out and see these honorable young men display their talents on the field, while raising money for Shriners Hospitals for Children, the official philanthropy of Shriners International.  The Zoo Lady and Funbelieveable Balloons will be there entertaining the crowd.  Admission to the event is $10 at the gate.  The game will be broadcast live on Cities 92.9 and HighSchoolCube.com.   For more information about scheduled events and rosters for the East and West teams, visit www.ilshrinegame.com.

After player check-in Tuesday, July 9, a media day for player interviews and photos will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Tucci Stadium. Interested media should fill out the form at ilshrinegame.com to attain a press pass for this offering as well as the game day events.

The Illinois High School Shrine Game has started an alumni association and is asking former players to go to the website and complete an online form.  Next year is the 40th anniversary and they will be inviting as many former players and coaches back to the event held July 12, 2014 in Bloomington.  The form can be found at http://ilshrinegame.com/the-history/alumni-association/.
