NCAA Gives Oregon Football Three Years' Probation

(Indianapolis, IN) -- The Oregon Ducks football program is being hit with three years' probation. The NCAA's Committee on Infractions issued its ruling Wednesday after investigating recruiting violations under former head coach Chip Kelly. Athletic Director Rob Mullens says he doesn't believe the violations were a factor in head coach Chip Kelly leaving Oregon after this past season to become head coach of the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles.

The Ducks will also lose one scholarship through June 2016 as well as reduced paid football visits and evaluation days. The penalties come as a result of Oregon using a recruiting service provider, whose director provided cash and lodging to one prospect and made impermissible contact with others.
