CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- No. 14/16 Illinois fell to Michigan State, 23-15, at Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

"We're gonna watch the film, learn from today, just have short-term memory, and move forward because we still have games in front of us," said linebacker and team captain Tarique Barnes. "We still have everything we want laying out in front of us, and we just need to make sure that we capitalize on those games."

Isaiah Williams recorded two receiving touchdowns in the defeat, registering a team-high five catches for 98 yards and two scores. Chase Brown notched his 10th consecutive100-yard rushing game during the third quarter, finishing with 136 yards on 33 carries. Brown also moved into third place on the program's all-time rushing list with 2,907 career yards on the ground.

Sydney Brown recorded his fourth interception of the season on the first play of the game, his third straight game with a takeaway.

Illinois remains in the driver's seat atop the Big Ten West with a 7-2 record ahead of its final home game of the season next week. The Fighting Illini will take on Purdue in Champaign next Saturday for Senior Day and Military Appreciation Day.
