MOUNT ZION -- Effingham's junior varsity football team traveled to Mount Zion and came away with its record still perfect.

The Hearts lost the lead briefly in the third quarter, falling behind 28-24. However the offense rallied for two more scores and the defense produced two take-a-ways with interceptions by Brandon Loy and the last one by Matt Wohltman with Mount Zion trying to punch it in from the Effingham six-yard line late in the fourth quarter.

Kevin Daugherty had a big night passing, completing 12 of 20 passes for 268 yards two seven different receivers. He also rushed eight times for 45 yards and two touchdowns. Trent Barnhart and Matt Wohltman also found the end zone on the ground and Trevor Colclasure caught a pass right before half and scored from 45 yards out to account for the other touchdown.

Effingham runs it's JV record to 7-0 and travels to Mahomet-Seymour Monday to finish the season.
