Sept. 8 Junior Football League Results

Effingham swept all four games from Mattoon in Junior Hearts Football League play Saturday.

In the fifth-grade contest, Effingham claimed a 28-8 win. The Junior Hearts got three rushing touchdowns from Siner, Brown and Tuttle. Siner connected on three of six passes for 35 yards and a touchdown. Brown was the receiver on the touchdown.

In sixth-grade action, Effingham trounced Mattoon 44-6. Reynolds scored three touchdowns and Wolke two scores rushing. Ballman, Hagler and Wolfe had extra point carries while Lee had an extra point catch. Hagler returned an interception for a touchdown.

The seventh-grade contest went to Effingham, 34-18. Hill had 14 carries for 125 yards and three touchdowns for the Junior Hearts. Also scoring was Robinson with two carries for 14 yards and a touchdown. Stevenson hit three of 10 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown. Maroon pulled in the touchdown pass.

In eighth-grade action, Effingham was a 28-19 winner. Wolfe scored two touchdowns on 11 carries for 76 yards. Walk had nine carries for 56 yards and a touchdown.

Wolfe hit nine of 21 passes for 154 yards. Koenig pulled in three passes for 80 yards, a touchdown and an extra point. Kreke had an extra point catch.
