Notre Dame Women Finish Seventh, Men 15th At NCAA C.C. Championships

Notre Dame's women captured seventh place in the NCAA Cross Country Championship Saturday.

Winning was North Carolina State with 114 followed by New Mexico 160, Alabama 166, Oklahoma State 201, North Carolina 242, Northern Arizona 257, Notre Dame 261, BYU 263, Virginia 268, Georgetown 271, Colorado 286, Utah 307, Stanford 371, Oregon 390, Ohio State 467, Providence 468, Washington 470, Florida State 471, Wisconsin 494, Michigan State 497, Arkansas 507, Michigan 534,  Syracuse 544, Oregon State 544, Colorado State 548, Utah Valley 548, West Virginia 562, Toledo 654, California Baptist University 659, Northwestern 714 and Texas 983.

Winning was Katelyn Tuohy of NC State in 19:27.7.

Notre Dame's Olivia Markezich captured eighth place with a time of 19:46.4. Also competing for Notre Dame were Erin Strzelecki who took 54th in 20:17.8, Katie Thronson 68th in 20:24.3, Siona Chisholm 103rd in 20:30.4, Anna Sophia Keller 128th in 20:38.0, Maddy Denner 205th in 20:47.5 and Katie Rose Blachowicz in 21:24.7.

Keller is an Effingham native.

The men finished 15th for Notre Dame. Northern Arizona and Oklahoma State tied for first with 83 points. Northern Arizona won on a tie-breaker.

Charles Hicks of Stanford won in 28:43.6. Notre Dame's top finisher was Carter Solomon in 18th in 29:18.8.
