Mount Zion, Stanford Olympia Win St. Anthony Bulldog C.C. Invitationals

The Effingham St. Anthony Bulldog Cross Country boys and girl invitationals were held Saturday.

In the girls meet, Mount Zion won the team championship with 16 points followed by Stanford Olympia 79, Effingham 89, Breese Mater Dei 94, Champaign St. Thomas More 112, Charleston 160 and Effingham St. Anthony 168. Altamont, Dieterich, Teutopolis, Bethany Okaw Valley, Champaign Judah Christian, Chrisman, Flora, Lawrencevile, Mattoon and Odin had runners competing but not enough for team scores.

Sofia Munoz of Mount Zion was the individual champion with a time of 19:56.64. Altamont's Grace Nelson finished fifth in 20:17.82 while Effingham's Jessica Larson was seventh in 20:23.56. T-town's top finisher was Olivia Copple 19th in 21:53.82 and St. Anthony's top runner was Emma Helmink 24th in 22:04.94.

In the boys meet, Stanford Olympia captured the team title with 28 points followed by Breese Mater Dei 83, Mattoon 96, Effingham 96, Effingham St. Anthony 131, Charleston 167, Mount Zion 185, Chrisman 227, Dieterich 232, Altamont 236, Champaign St. Thomas More 257 and Teutopolis 272. Bethany Okaw Valley Champaign Judah Christian, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, Flora and Lawrenceville had runners but not enough for a team score.

The individual champion was Mattoon's Brock Davee who finished in 16:22.21. St. Anthony's Griffen Elder was fifth in 17:13.28 while Effingham's Andrew Donaldson finished seventh in 17:21.98.
