Nick Zwilling Sets Newton Course Record

Zwilling went the distance in 14 minutes and 42 seconds breaking the 1996 record of 14:46 set by Chris Zwilling, a distant cousin of Nick's.

Newton won the meet with 17 points followed by Altamont with 38. Hutsonville/Palestine and Flora did not have enough runners for a team score.

Also scoring for Newton were Luke Weber second in 15:52, Clay Bergbower third in 16:15, Owen Mahaffey fourth in 16:26 and Ben Street seventh in 17:00.

Altamont's Derik Budde finished fifth in 16:39.

In the girls meet, Newton's Rylea Borgic took first place in 18:14 but the Eagles fell to Casey-Westfield, 24-41. Altamont did not have enough members for a team score.

Casey-Westfield took the next four spots and 10th for the win.

Altamont's top finisher was Taylor Mette sixth in 20:30.
