EHS Wins Boys, St. Anthony Wins Girls Cross Country Meets

Effingham St. Anthony High School claimed the boys meet by a 15-50 score over Effingham while the Hearts were winners in the girls meet 21-36 over the Bulldogs in cross country action Thursday.

The Hearts didn't have a chance in the boys meet as the Bulldogs swept the top eight spots. Clayton Helmink led the way for the Bulldogs with a personal best time of 17:08.

Also scoring were Brian Dust second in 17:12, Kennan Walsh third in 17:45, Austin Faber fourth in 18:01 and Noah Tegeler fifth in 18:14.

Effingham's top finisher was Patrick Sherrod ninth in 18:59.

St. Anthony's Sarah Carr finished first in the girls meet with a time of 19:15 but the Hearts swept the next four spots as Miranda Fox took second on 20:28, Kortney Cordes third in 20:36 and Kylee Weaver fourth in 20:58. Effingham's other scorer was Meredith Kull seventh in 23:32.
