EHS Seventh, Ninth At Charelston C.C. Invitational

CHARLESTON -- Effingham High School captured seventh in the girls race and ninth in the boys race at the Charleston Cross Country Invitational at Eastern Illinois University Saturday.

The Hearts' Miranda Fox nabbed 12th place with a time of 20:13.6. Also scoring were Kourtney Cordes 18th in 20:31.7, Kiley Weaver 19tht in 20:36.0, Abby Weiss 40th in 21;44.8 and Meredith Kull 41st in 21:47.3. The sixth and seventh runners were Brianna Schmidt 53rd in 23:22.1 and Madison Tilford 67th in 23:38.4.

Also competing were Keira Hirtzel 71st in 23:55.7, Nicole Schniederjon 72nd in 24:01, Becca Webster 79th in 24:29.9, Hope Monnet 87th  in 24:29.9, Kaylee Phillips 95th in 25:32.7, Lali Hoyos 97th in 25:42.6, Holly Bloemer 103rd in 26:23.7, Olivia Fritcher 114th in 27:31.1, Delaney Starwalt 123rd in 30:15.7,  Hannah Taylor 129th in 31:53.8 and Olivia Stanfield 130th in 32:10.4.

Winning the meet was Urbana's Olivia Rosenstein with a time of 17:47.8.

The team championship went to Mahomet-Seymour with 31 points followed by Urbana 97, Charleston 100, Mount Zion 119, Mattoon 119, Effingham 123, Notre Dame Academy 139, Central 238, LWRB 244 and Danville 245. Non-scoring teams were Fairfield, Shelbyville and Sullivan.

In the boys meet, Effingham finished ninth. Scoring for the Hearts were Alfredo Lopez 38th in 17:45, Clayton Cramsey 53rd in 18:41.3, Izaya Goss 62nd in 19:09.7, Patrick Sherrod 68th in 19:23.6 and Zeel Patel 81st in 19:58.1. Others competing were Chris Schafer 103rd in 21:00.3, Christian Raddatz 119th in 21:50.2, Preston Latch 120th in 21:53.7, Dane Seiler 126th in 22:47.3 and Avery Lueken 142nd in 25:17.0.

The top runners was Charleston's Nick Oakley with a time of 15:08.9.

Winning the team championship was Mahomet-Seymour with 43 points followed by Danville 57, Mount Zion 88, Charleston 97, Mattoon 160, Urbana 152, Central 179, Fairfield 227, Effingham 145, Sullivan 257, LWRB 345 and IC Catholic Prep 346. Not scoring was Shelbyville.
