Effingham Junior High School's seventh-grade squad defeated Olney 37-25 in boys basketball action Thursday evening.
EJHS took a 17-15 halftime lead then had a 20-10 second half. Wolfe tallied 11 for the winners who improve to 11-2 on the season.
In eighth-grade play, Olney picked up a 37-29 victory. Effingham took a 14-13 halftime lead but Olney came back with a 24-15 second half.
The Mustangs were led by Volpi with nine points and Matteson with eight.

At Altamont
Altamont scored two victories Thursday evening in junior high basketball action.
Altamont won the seventh-grade contest 38-13. Altamont held Mulberry Grove scoreless in the opening quarter and in the third period.
Kollman led the winners with 13 points while Hammer added eight.
In eighth-grade action, Altamont picked up a 42-17 win. Altamont held only a four point lead at halftime but had a 14-0 third quarter.
Suckow tallied 16 to lead the winners.

Newton St. Thomas picked up two wins over Oblong Thursday evening.
St. Thomas won the seventh-grade contest 22-7.
In eighth-grade play, St. Thomas was a 46-33 winner. Leo Weber tallied 14 and Mason Schafer 13 for the winners.
At Strasburg
Stewardson-Strasburg took a 51-3 seventh-grade victory over Neoga Thursday.
Stew-Stras held a 27-2 halftime lead and held Neoga scoreless in the first and fourth quarters.
A. Wittenberg had 15 points and J. Wittenberg 12 for the winners. Richards led Neoga with three.
Stew-Stras remained unbeaten at 9-0 in the National Trail Conference, 17-0 overall.
In eighth-grade play, Neoga was the winner, picking up a 38-24 victory.
Neoga led 24-13 at halftime. Titus scored 13 and McClure 11.
Stew-Stras was led by Wernsing with 10. The Stars drop to 3-6 in the conference, 4-11 overall.
