EHS Downs Pana, Saturday Scores

Effingham High School handed Pana a 74-64 non-conference boys basketball loss Saturday evening. It was also Senior Night at EHS. Video of the Senior Night ceremony prior to the Varsity game is below.

The Hearts trailed Pana 18-15 after the opening quarter but came back strong with a 23-9 second period run to lead 38-27 at halftime. The score was knotted at 52-52 going into the final quarter. The Hearts then connected on seven field goals and eight free throws to pull out the 10-point win.

Leighton Lark tallied 18 points while Kevin Daugherty scored 12 and Isaac Foreman 10.

At Riverton

Altamont dropped a game to Pleasant Plains in the Riverton Shootout Saturday, 63-61 in overtime.

Pleasant Plains was led by Collins with 28 points as he connected on eight three-pointers in the contest, four in the second period for 14 points as Pleasant Plains led 30-19 at halftime. Altamont pulled within 42-38 going into the final period then had a 16-12 run as Garrett Ziegler scored eight points and Jake Seidel 5. Aaon Goeckner hit a three-pointer and the scored was knotted at 54-54.

In the overitme period, Pleasant Plains connected on its free throws and Collins added another three pointer for the two-point victory.

The Indians were led by Ziegler with 21 and Seidel with 11. Collins led Pleasant Plains with 28 and Gustafson added 13.

Cowden-Herrick fell to Patoka 68-52 Saturday. The Hornets held an 11-10 opening quarter lead but Patoka came roaring back with a 21-4 second period run and went on for the victory.

Burrus tallied 17 and Barnes 12 for the Hornets.

At Bethany

Windsor went two overtimes before pulling out a non-conference win over Okaw Valley 68-63.

Okaw Valley held a 27-22 hafltime lead. The Blue Devils came back with an 18-11 run to lead 40-28 going into the final period. Okaw Valley then knotted the score sending the game into the first overtime where both teams tallied six points. Windsor then pulled away in the second overtime.

Warner scored 27 points for the winners while Allen added 12.

Olney picked up a 71-40 win over Cumberland in action Saturday.

The Tigers jumped out to a 16-9 opening quarter lead and led 36-17 at halftime. Nahew tallied 22 while Ev. Eagleson scored 18, Et. Eagleson 13 and St. Pierre 10.

Cumberland was led by Napier with 15 and Brumleve with 10.
