Altamont Defeats Brownstown/St. Elmo; Other Valentine's Day Scores

The Altamont Indians posted a 57-50 win over the St. Elmo/Brownstown Eagles Friday night in high school boys basketball action.
St. Elmo/Brownstown had the early momentum and led the game 14-7 after one quarter. The Eagles were still up 26-21 at halftime, but the third quarter is where things changed. Altamont outscored the Eagles 20-11 in the period to pull ahead 41-37. The Indians posted a 16-13 fourth quarter advantage to win by seven.
Garrett Ziegler led Altamont with 15 points, while Jake Seidel added 12 points and Derek Jahraus 10 points. Also for Altamont: Cole Borders eight, Klaiton Wolff six, Aaron Goeckner five, and Griffin Jackman one point.
Levi Maxey with 17 points and Jacob Behrends with 15 points paced the St. Elmo/Brownstown attack. Also for SEB: Landon Feezel eight, Malachi Maxey six, and Cole Smithson four points.
Altamont won the JV game 39-35. For Altamont: Ryan Armstrong 14, Brandon Hosick 11, Justin Goeckner six, Klaiton Wolff four, and Adam Mayhaus and Travis Whitt two points each. For St. Elmo/Brownstown: Pasley 12, Hardimon eight, Brooks six, Miller and Flowers three points apiece, Austin two and Noll one point.

The Dieterich Movin Maroons posted a 57-37 win Friday night over the Clay City Wolves.
Dieterich was up 18-10 after one quarter, 26-22 at halftime, and 42-26 after three periods. Dieterich outscored Clay City 16-4 in the third period.
Travis Niemerg had a big game for Dieterich, scoring 18 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and blocking nine shots. Also for Dieterich: Tanner Traub 14, Lance Niemerg 10, Josh Campbell eight, and Alex Bohnhoff seven. Lybarger with 15 and Pittman with 12 led Clay City.
Devin Aherin sat out the game for what Dieterich Coach Jeff Staser termed "precautionary reasons".
