Effingham High School students will raise funds for the American Heart Association and spread awareness on the risk factors of heart disease at a Red Out basketball game against Mount Zion this Friday.

Fans can purchase heart-shaped treats at the concession stand, purchase Red Out T-shirts and make donations
during the Miracle Minute at the junior varsity and varsity boys basketball games. The school also will raffle off basketballs signed by players from the boys and girls basketball teams.

The junior varsity game starts at 6:15 p.m. while the varsity game will begin around 8 p.m.

Red Out games were started by the American Heart Association to encourage kids to live healthier lifestyles, to learn about the risks for heart disease and to raise funds for the organization. The American Heart Association also works with elementary and junior high school students through Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart programs.

For more information or to purchase a Red Out T-shirt, contact Sarah Wyckoff of the Effingham High School Student Council at 217-540-1100 or wyckoffs@u40gw.effingham.k12.il.us.
