Seventh-Grade Boys Basketball Regionals Underway

Seventh-grade boys basketball regionals got underway Saturday around the area.

Class 7-1A Windsor Regional

In the lone game at the Windsor Regional, Stewardson-Strasburg defeated Beecher City 29-24.

Stew-Stras led 17-12 at halftime and 25-18 going into the final period. Beecher City had a comeback but fell short.

Kirby and A. Burton led Stew-Stras with eight points each. Stewart led Beecher Cty with 13. Stew-Stras is now 5-15 and will face top-seeded Windsor tonight at 6. In the second contest, Cowden-Herrick meets Pana Sacred Heart at 7:15.

Class 7-1A Windsor Reigonal

Class 7-1A Palestine Regional

Effingham Sacred Heart fell to Palestine 31-16 in opening round play of the Palestine Regional Saturday. In the second contest, Hutsonville defeated Martinsville 39-19.

The tourney continues Tuesday with Sigel St. Michael against Palesitne at 6 p.m. followed by Newton St. Thomas taking on Hutsonville at 7:15 p.m.

 

Class 7-2A Effingham St. Anthony Regional

Altamont and Oblong were winners Saturday in the St. Anthony Regional. Altamont defeated Dieterich 36-15 in the second game of the morning. In the opener, Oblong won over Neoga 42-13.

Tonight's games feature St. Anthony facing Oblong at 6 followed by Altamont taking on St. Elmo at 7:15.

 

Class 7-3A Marshall Regional

Three games opened the Marshall Regional Saturday morning.

Casey-Westfield defeated Paris Mayo 39-30. Red Hill (Bridgeport) won over Lawrenceville Parkview 54-12 and Robinson Nuttall edged Jasper County (Newton) 31-28.

Tonight's games feature Marshall against Casey-Westfield at 6 followed by  Red Hill taking on Robinson Nuttall at 7:15.

 

Class 7-3A Tuscola East Prairie Regional

Cumberland and Shelbyville Moulton picked up victories in opening round play of the Tuscola Regional Saturday.

Cumberland pounded Arthur 47-17 in the first game. In the second contest, Shelbyville Moulton won over Sullivan 36-28.

Tonight's games feature Cumberland against Tuscola East Prairie at 6 followed by Teutopolis facing Shelbyville Moulton at 7:15.

 

Class 7-4A Charleston Regional

The Charleston Regional gets underway tonight. Charleston facies Champaign Jefferson at 6 p.m. followed by Tolono Unity against Champaign Edison at 7:15.

Effingham will play Wednesday evening against the winner of the Charleston vs. Champaign Jefferson contest.
