Dieterich High School trounced Beecher City 79-35 in regular season boys basketball action Thursday evening.

The Movin' Maroons led 33-21 at halftime and then came out in the second half with a whopping 30-4 run and the game was over. Dieterich connected on 13 three-pointers led by Traub with five, Bohnhoff with three and Feldhake with two.

Bohnhoff led three players in double figures for Dieterich with 19 points. Traub tallied 15 and Aherin 10.

Beecher City was led by Doty with 15 and Lagerhausen with 10.

At Louisville

Woodlawn and Odin advanced to the championship game of the Midland Trail Conference Boys Basketball Tournament with victories Thursday evening at North Clay High School.

Woodlawn defeated Waltonville 47-25 in the opener. Odin then downed Wayne City 49-40.

Tonight's games feature Cisne against North Clay in the consolation championship at 6:30 p.m. followed by Waltonville facing Wayne City at 8 for third place.

The championship is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday.

 

At Nashville

There were consolation bracket contests played in the Nashville Invitational Tournament Thursday evening.

Nashville downed Mascoutah 43-32 and Freeburg won over Trenton Wesclin 57-48 in overtime. The losers drop into the seventh place contest Saturday at noon while the winners square off for the consolation championship at 1:30 p.m.

In tonight's games, Waterloo Gibault faces Breese Central at 6:30 p.m. while Teutopolis takes on Breese Mater Dei at 8 in winner bracket action. The winners advance to the championship at 8 p.m. Saturday while the losers play for third place at 6:30.

 

At Salem

In Thursday action at the Salem Invitational Boys Basketball Tournament Thursday evening, Edwardsville bounced Lovejoy 77-37 and Mount Vernon won over Salem 57-36.

In tonight's action, Effingham takes on Centralia at 7 p.m. and Edwardsville faces Mount Vernon at 8:30 in winner bracket play.

Saturday's play features Mattoon against Marion at 11:30 a.m. and Lovejoy squaring off against Salem at 1 p.m. in consolation bracket play. The third place game is set for 5 p.m. with the championship at 8.
