Mustangs Claim Wins Over Altamont In Junior High Basketball

Effingham Junior High School picked up two victores over Altamont in boys basketball competition Tuesday evening.
In the seventh-grade contest, Effingham placed 10 players in the scoring column as the Mustangs bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 48-13 win over Altamont. The Mustangs improve to 13-1.
Effingham held Altamont scoreless in the opening quarter while taking a 13-0 lead. Wolfe tallied 10 points for the winners. Altamont was led by Biggs with four points.
In eighth-grade action, Effingham picked up a 57-43 win. The Mustangs held a 28-18 halftime lead and led 46-27 going into the final quarter.
Hull tallied 23, scoring 14 in the opening quarter as Effingham shot out to an 18-7 lead. Koester chipped in with 14 points. Altamont was led by Brown with 12 points.

At Dieterich
Dieterich and St. Elmo/Brownstown split junior high wins. St. Elmo/Brownstown claimed the seventh-grade contest 35-19.
In eighth-grade action, Dieterich was a 54-26 winner.
Junior Midland Trail Conference Tournament
Clay City opened the MTC Tournament with a victory over Cisne, 28-10. The tournament finally started after being canceled several times last week.
In the second contest, South Central took on Noble, but no score was reported.
