The Effigham St. Anthony eighth-grade boys basketball team claimed a 48-39 victory over Jasper County Monday evening.

Greg Utz led the Bullpups with 12 points while Alex Deters added 10. Jasper County was led by Cohorst with 12.

St. Anthony is now 7-0 on the season.

At Effingham

Effingham picked up two victories over Dieterich in action Monday evening.

The Mustangs held Dieterich scoreless in the first quarter and cruised to a 46-11 victory. Effingham placed seven players in the scoring column led by Wolfe with 14 and Rich with 10. The Mustangs are now 8-0 on the season.

In eighth-grade action, the Mustangs held a 17-13 halftime lead. Hull tallied 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds while Levitt chipped in with 10 points. Hill led in rebounds with eight and Koester led in steals with five. The Mustangs are now 7-1 on the season.

At Strasburg

Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor and St. Elmo/Brownstown split victories Monday.

St. Elmo/Brownstown edged the homestanders 27-25 in overtime. St. Elmo/Brownstown trailed Stew-Stras/Windsor 12-8 at halftime but came back with a 12-4 third quarter run. Stew-Stras/Windsor then knotted the score at 25-25 sending the game into overtime.

A. Burton led the winners with 10 points while Aderman led Stew-Stras/Windsor (1-4, 2-7) with 13.

In the eighth-grade National Trail Conference contest, Stew-Stras/Windsor was a 42-29 winner. Kramer tallied 20 and Kessler 10 to lead the way. Brown led Brownstown/St. Elmo with 16. Stew-Stras/Windsor improves to 5-0 in the conference, 8-1 overall.
