EJHS Wins Twice, Loses Once at Shootout

Effingham split two games at the Champaign Edison Day of Hoops Shootout in seventh-grade action Saturday while the eighth-grade squad won its contest.

In seventh-grade action, Effingham defeated Champaign Edison 28-23. the Mustangs got balanced scoring with Landon Wolfe scoring nine, Luke Hagler seven and Dylan Bushur and Zach Lee chipping in with six apiece.

In the second game, the Mustangs fell to Urbana 38-37. Effingham was trailng 21-14 at half and fell behind by as many as 12 before making a furious comeback that just fell short. Wolfe tallied 13 to lead Effingham.

The Mustangs are now 6-1 on the season.

In eighth-grade action, Effingham downed Champaign Edison 35-32. Effingham stepped out to a 12-2 opening quarter lead then had to hold off a second half rally by Edison. Hull tallied 10 points for the winners and had two steals. Koester led in rebounds with three.
