Pistons Clip Celtics

(Auburn Hills, MI) -- Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond and Josh Smith each scored 15 points to lead the Pistons past the Celtics, 87-77, at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Monroe and Drummond each had double-doubles, while Brandon Jennings made his season debut scoring 14 points with four assists and four steals off the bench. Jennings missed the first two games with an injury. Detroit is 2-1. Kelly Olynyk scored 15 points and grabbed eight boards for Boston off the bench. The Celtics turned the ball over 23 times and were 3-of-16 from behind the arc as they have lost three in-a-row to start the season.  

 

Heat Dump Wizards

(Miami, FL) -- The "Big Three" carried the Heat to a 103-93 win against the Wizards at AmericanAirlines Arena.  LeBron James shot 9-of-14 on his way to 25 points, while Chris Bosh posted 24 points with seven rebounds. Dwyane Wade tallied 20 points with five assists and five boards. Miami evened up its record at 2-2. Bradley Beal paced Washington with 19 points. John Wall added 11 points with nine assists, while Marcin Gortat chipped in with a double-double featuring 15 points and 11 rebounds. The Wizards are 0-3.

 

Wolves Hold Knicks

(New York, NY) -- Keven Love scored 34 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to help the Timberwolves hold off the Knicks, 109-100, at Madison Square Garden. Minnesota led 40-19 after the first quarter. Kevin Martin added 30 points on 9-of-12 shooting including 5-of-5 from behind the arc. The T'Wolves are 3-0. New York cut the lead to as low as three in the fourth quarter, but couldn't finish off the comeback. Carmelo Anthony missed 13-of-21 yet still finished with 22 points and 17 rebounds. Raymond Felton dished out 12 assists and chipped in eight points. The Knicks fell to 1-2.   

 

Lakers Block Hawks

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Pau Gasol sank two free throws with six seconds left to lift the Lakers to a 105-103 win against the Hawks at the STAPLES Center.  Gasol finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Steve Nash contributed 13 points and six assists. Xavier Henry led the way for Los Angeles with 18 points as they improved to 2-1. Kyle Korver hit 6-of-6 from three on his way to 22 points in the loss. Al Horford tallied a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds for Atlanta, which is 1-2.

 

Bulls Off Until Wednesday

(Chicago, IL) -- The Bulls have a few more days to regroup following Saturday's loss in Philadelphia. Chicago will travel to Indiana to play the Pacers on Wednesday. The Bulls are 1-2 on the young season following a 107-104 setback to the 76ers. The Pacers are 3-0 and will play at Detroit Tuesday before hosting the Bulls.
