Effingham St. Anthony had three players hit double figures in a 59-2 non-conference girls basketball victory over Casey-Westfield Monday at the Enlow Center.

Lucy Fearday started the game strong with an eight-point opening quarter and finished with 22 for the contest. She connected on 10 field goals and was two of three at the line. Grace Karoelwicz put in six baskets for 12 points while Anna Faber hit five buckets, four in the third quarter, for 10 points.

The Bulldogs held a 29-1 halftime lead against a Casey-Westfield program that is down this season. The only points for the Warriors came on a free throw in the opening quarter and one in the final period.

St. Anthony will be back in action Thursday playing host to Shelbyville in another non-conference matchup.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis had an easy time Monday evening with a 53-15 win over Flora.

The Wooden Shoes held a 17-7 opening quarter lead and the game was put in the win column with a 32-8 halftime tally.

Kaitlyn Schumacher and Isabella Hardiek scored 15 points each for the Wooden Shoes. Schumacher put in seven baskets and was one of two at the line. She scored eight in the third period. Hardiek scattered her 15 points over all four quarters hitting seven field goals and one of one at the line. Also scoring in double figures was Kaylee Niebrugge with 10 on four field goals and two of two at the line.

Hardiek and Niebrugge led in rebounds with five each. Hardiek, Emily Konkel, Niebrugge and Schumacher had three steals each as the Shoes had a total of 17 for the contest. Zoe Cremens, Konkel and Niebrugge had one assist each. Konkel and Schumacher blocked a shot each.

Cumberland played host to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in a non-conference matchup and was a 50-30 winner Monday.

The Pirates took the early lead with a 14-8 opening quarter and never looked back in this victory. 

Abbie Becker was the leading scorer with 19 points on seven field goals that included five three-pointers. Also in double figures was Zoe Mitchell with 14. Jadalyn Sowers was on the verge of double figures with nine.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg was led by Ella Kinkelaar with 14 and Samantha Hayes with nine.

At Martinsville

South Central connected on 24 field goals and 11 of 16 at the line to outdistance Martinsville, 63-20 in a non-conference contest Monday evening.

Laney Webster finished with 13 points on the evening and reached her 1,000th career point.

The Cougars ripped out to a 17-4 opening quarter lead as Webster knocked in a three-pointer and hit two free throws for five points. Brooklyn Garrett hit six of eight free throws and a basket through the first two quarters. Otherwise, the Cougars spread their points among seven players and held a 31-10 halftime lead.

Four players hit double digits for the Cougars. Garrett led the way with 14 points while Webster added 13, Kaitlyn Swift 12 and Taegan Webster 10. The Cougars connected on 24 field goals, four of those from three-point range, and were 11 of 16 at the line. South Central is now 9-6 on the season.

At Brownstown

Nokomis took the early lead but Brownstown/St. Elmo came back to outscore the visitors in the second half only to fall short of winning, 47-39.

Nokomis edged out to a 12-10 opening quarter lead then had a 20-5 second period run to lead 32-15 at halftime. BSE came back with a 24-15 second half but couldn't get over that second period run by Nokomis.

Lexi Seabaugh led the way for Brownstown/St. Elmo with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Laney Baldrige finished with 11 points and nine boards. Seabaugh scored 11 of her 19 points in the final quarter.

At Newton

 Fairfield came calling and picked up a 46-38 win over Newton Monday evening.

Fairfield took a 7-5 opening quarter lead and led 26-18 at halftime. The two teams played to a 20-20 second half.

The Eagles had only one player reach double digits and that was Ava Kessler with 11 points. Alexis Hetzer pulled down seven rebounds while Amber Russell had five. A. Kessler and Elle Bennett had three each. A. Kessler had five steals and Hetzer two. Sydney Dobbins had three assists.

Newton falls to 6-12 on the season. Fairfield also claimed the junior varsity contest, 33-25. The Eagles drop to 6-3 in JV play. Newton returns to action hosting Lawrenceville Thursday.
