Effingham St. Anthony and Teutopolis split junior high boys basketball victories Thursday.

T-town claimed a 38-11 win in eighth-grade B action. The Shoes took a 10-0 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Brody Thoele led T-town with nine points. Seacrest led St. Anthony with five.

In the eighth-grade A contest, the Bullpups claimed a 40-33 win. St. Anthony had a 14-8 opening quarter and a 17-6 final period.

Schmidt scored 17 and Frost 16 for the winners who are now 12-2 on the season. T-town was led by Jacob Bushur with 18.

At Dieterich

Dieterich hosted Altamont and claimed a 41-26 eighth-grade boys basketball win Thursday.

Dieterich ran out to a 17-2 opening quarter lead and that was the game. Westendorf tallied 21 points for the winners. He scored 11 in the opening quarter and 17 by halftime.

Altamont was led by Shafer with 14.

At Mattoon

Stewradson-Strasburg claimed two wins over Mattoon St. John's Thursday.

Sayers tallied 19 and Beals 10 in a 33-20 win in seventh-grade play. Stew-Stras took a 16-11 halftime lead then had a 12-7 third quarter run. Stew-Stras finished the season at 11-4.

In eighth-grade action, Stew-Stras trailed St. John's 14-12 at halftime then had a 14-4 third quarter for the win.

Gurgel scored 17 and Morris 13 as the team finished the season at 11-4.

At Mattoon

At Cowden

Nokomis came calling and handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City two losses in junior high action Thursday.

Nokomis claimed the seventh-grade contest, 21-13. CHBC was led by Gage Hart with five points. CHBC is 3-12 on the season.

In eighth-grade action, Nokomis picked up a 33-26 victory. CHBC led 15-12 at halftime but Nokomis came back to tie the score at 22-22 going into the final period then had an 11-4 run for the win.

Levi Moon led CHBC with seven points. The squad dropped to 6-9.
