St. A Drops Loss, Lexie Niebrugge Scores 1,000th For T-town, Girls Roundup

The Bulldogs held a 12-10 opening quarter lead as Reese Jones tallied six points. St. Anthony still held that two point lead at halftime, 27-25. Izzy Hakman scored five to lead the way.
But Sullivan came back as White connected for nine points in the third quarter and the Redskins moved ahead 45-41. Sullivan kept the momentum through the fourth quarter with a 12-5 run.
St. Anthony was led by Riley Guy with 22 points, scoring 10 in the third quarter and 15 in the second half. Also in double figures was Jones with 11. Lucy Fearday was a point away with nine.
In the junior varsity contest, St. Anthony edged Sullivan, 34-31. Fearday scored 16 for the winners while Allison Geen added nine.

At Taylorville
Lexie Niebrugge scored her 1,000th career point Saturday as Teutopolis handed Taylorville a 59-46 loss.
Niebrugge finished with 22 points, scoring eight baskets which included four three-pointers and was two of four at the line.
The Shoes took a 13-3 opening quarter lead but the Tornadoes came back to play T-town even in the second period to trail 33-23 at halftime. The two teams tallied 13 points each in the third quarter before T-town had a slight 13-10 final period edge.
Along with Niebrugge, two other Shoes scored in double figures. Kaitlyn Schumacher finished with 12 on six field goals and Isabella Hardiek chipped in with 10 on three field goals and four of six at the line.
Hardiek and Schumacher had eight rebounds each while L. Niebrugge had seven boards and three assists.

Two players hit double figures as Altamont claimed a 77-62 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Saturday.
The two teams played to a 16-16 opening quarter. Altamont then moved ahead 37-30 at halftime and had a 24-16 third quarter.
Grace Nelson led the Indians with 38 points. She hit 12 field goals that included one three-pointer and was 13 of 16 at the line. Also in double figures was Brooke Runge with 17 on six field goals including a three-pointer and four of six at the line. The Indians had seven three-pointers in the game. Claire Boehm tallied two.
CHBC was led by Gracie Heckert who had a double-double with 28 points on 11 field goals that included two three-pointers and four of six at the line and 16 rebounds. Mackenzie Bunch added 12 points. Lani Morrison pulled down 10 rebounds and Ruby Stuckemeyer nine. Morrison had two steals. Sydney Lorton had six assists.
In junior varsity action, the Bobcats tallied a 29-20 win. CHBC was led by Shae Nohren with six points. Altamont was led by Boehm with nine points.

Neoga got back on the winning track with a 49-35 victory over Newton Saturday.
The Indians held a 26-13 halftime lead. Newton came back with a 14-8 run but Neoga finished strong with a 15-8 final quarter.
Sydney Richards tallied 17 points for the winners on eight field goals and a free throw. Kylee Phillips chipped in with 10. Avery Fearday had six rebounds and Richards six steals.
Neoga improves to 10-2 on the season and hosts North Clay Monday.
Newton was led by Whitney Zumbahlen with 17 points.
The Indians also captured the junior varsity contest, 32-30.

Smith hit 10 field goals that included one three-pointer and was five of five at the line.
St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Olivia Campbell with 13.
