SLU Blows Out New Mexico State

(San Jose, CA) -- Dwayne Evans scored 24 points as Saint Louis University knocked off New Mexico State 64-44 in the Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament. Cody Ellis added 12 points for the fourth-seeded Billikens, who move on to face 12th-seeded Oregon Saturday.

 

Rams Roll Tigers

(Lexington, KY) -- Dorian Green posted 28 points as the eighth-seeded Colorado State Rams rolled the ninth-seeded Missouri Tigers 84-72 in the Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament. Phil Pressey scored 20 points for Missouri, which ends its year at 23-11. Alex Oriakhi added 16 points in the loss.

 

Top-Seeds Louisville, Gonzaga Win

Russ Smith scored a game-high 23 points to pace the top-overall seed Louisville to a 79-48 win over North Carolina A&T. The Cardinals meet eighth-seeded Colorado State in the third round Saturday. Kelly Olynyk scored 21 points as top-seeded Gonzaga escaped Southern 64-58. Kevin Pangos added 16 points for the Bulldogs, who avoided becoming the first top seed to ever lose to a 16 seed. The Zags play Wichita State in Saturday's third round.

 

Marquette Rallies To Down Davidson

(Lexington, KY) -- Vander Blue's driving layup with one second left lifted Marquette to a thrilling 59-58 win over Davidson in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament. Blue and Jamil Wilson hit back-to-back three pointers to pull the Golden Eagles within one with 11 seconds left. Blue finished with 16 points and Wilson had 14 for Marquette, which will play Butler Saturday.


Harvard Shocks New Mexico

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- Wesley Saunders scored 18 points to give 14th-seeded Harvard a 68-62 win over third-seeded New Mexico in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament.  The Crimson become the 17th 14-seed to defeat a three-seed since 1985. Only two 14-seeds have advanced to the Sweet Sixteen since the field expanded to 64 teams. This is also Harvard's first-ever Tournament win.


Illinois Meets Colorado

(Austin, TX) -- The seventh-seeded Illinois Fighting Illini and 10th-seeded Colorado Buffaloes meet in Austin, Texas this afternoon. The Illini are 22-and-12, while the Buffs are 21-and-11. The winner advances to play second-seeded Miami-Florida or 15th-seeded Pacific in the next round Sunday.

 

Notre Dame Faces Iowa State

(Dayton, OH) -- The seventh-seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish and tenth-seeded Iowa State Cyclones square off in Dayton, Ohio tonight. The Irish come in at 25-9, while the Cyclones are 22-11. The winner advances to play second-seeded Ohio State or 15th-seeded Iona in the next round Sunday.
