EHS Boys Basketball Awards Presented

Effingham High School boys basketball awards were presented Tuesday evening at the Hearts Rock Cafe.

Varsity awards were presented to Hunter Keith (Most Valuable Player, Most Assists Award), Leighton Lark (Best Defensive Player), Tim Gardewine (Hustle Award), Kennan Mahaffey (Hustle Award), Alex Carie (Sixth Man Award, Most Three-Pointers Made), Clark Williamson (Most Improved Player, Most Rebound Award), Jake Stombaugh (Coaches Award, Most Rebound Award), Trent Frey (Highest Free Throw Percentage), Josh Stombaugh (Most Three Pointers Made), Kevin Daugherty (Outstanding Sophomore Award) and Anthony Barrett (Manager's Award, three years).

Lettermen for the squad were Anthony Barrett (video tech), Kohdai Nishida (manager), Alex Carie, Kennan Mahaffey, Marcus Robinson, Kevin Daugherty, Isaac Foreman, Kyle Niebrugge, Matt Wohltman, Phil Knight, Leighton Lark, Trenton Frey, Jake Stombaugh, Hunter Keith, Josh Stombaugh, Clark Williamson, Tim Gardewine and Braydon Bone.

The Hearts finished all four levels with a 70-12 record. The freshman squad won 14 straight and finished with an 18-3 record. The sophomores were undefeated at 14-0 while the junior varsity squad was 16-2. The varsity finished at 22-7 and were 9-1 in the Apollo Conference and the champions. The Hearts only allowed more than 50 points once in the final 17 games they played.
