Area Girls Garner All-State Mention

Several area girls garnered mention on the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association and Associated Press all-state teams.

Named to the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-State teams from the area were Micah Jones (Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City) to the Class 1A/2A First Team, Madeline Hartke (Teutopolis) to the Second Team, Candace Niemerg (Dieterich) to the Third Team and Ava Paruleski (Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City) to the Fourth Team.

Special Mention went to Cierra Thompson (Teutopolis).

On the Associated Press Class 1A All-State Team from the area was Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's Micah Jones, a 6-foot-1 senior. Also named to the team were Taylor McClintock (Illini Bluffs), Celina VanHyfte (Annawan), Sophie Brunner (Aquin) and Allison Webb (Goreville).

Named to the Second Team were Sarah Hansen (Kewanee Wethersfield), Jessia Awe (Mount Pulaski), Megan Wienstroer (Okawville), Morgan Atherton (Century) and Ashley Schneider (Nokomis).

Honorable Mention went to Andrea Dickerson (Mount Pulaski), Cassie Relley (Prophetstown), Lauren Tollefson (Newark), Taylor Roach (Tri-Point), Amanda Geiger (Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran), McKaila Hays (Elgin Westminster Christiani), Leslie Hardin (Madison), Adele Cook (Carrollton) and Hannah Wallace (Brimfield).

Named to the Class 2A First Team were Tyra Buss (Mount Carmel), Paige Rakers (Carlyle), Randa Harshbarger (Champaign St. Thomas More), Tori McCoy (Champaign St. Thomas More) and Sophie Reecher (Byron).

Named to the Second Team were Rebekah Ehresman (El Paso-Gridley), Kandie Bloch (Argenta-Oreana), Shaye Harre (Nashville), Devin Curry (Watseka) and Cassidy Clark (Orion).

Honorable Mention went to Allie Schoonover (Pana), Maddie Timmerman (Breese Central), Lexi Wallen (Champaign St. Thomas More), Hannah Nimrick (Riverdale), Sophie Fairman (Staunton), Carly Childress (Vienna), Kendra Wilken (Breese Central), Morgan Corn (Benton), Jordi Harre (Nashville), Ali Ringering (Red Bud) and Samantha Lambrigtsen (Oregon).
