St. Anthony Edges Christ Our Rock Lutheran in Girls Action

Effingham St. Anthony High School edged Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran 45-42 in girls basketball action Wednesday evening.

The Bulldogs took a 12-5 opening quarter lead behind Megan Nuxoll's five points. St. Anthony pushed that to 23-13 at halftime. In the third period, Christ Our Rock came back with a 10-6 run to pull within 29-23 and continued that into the fourth quarter with a 19-16 run but the Bulldogs hit their free throws down the stretch.

St. Anthony put in nine of 13 free throws as Makayla Walsh connected on six of eight and Lexie Niebrugge hit three of four. Walsh finished with 15 points while Nuxoll chipped in with 11.
