St. Anthony Grade School captured its own seventh-grade regional championship. Second row, left to right, Olivia Clausius, Jacob Zimmerman, Jacob Guy, Alex Deters, Cade Walsh, Nicholas Martelli, Christopher Heuerman, Parker Seachrist and Nick Goeckner. Third row, left to right, Madi Tegeler, Jaden Bracey, Keri McGuire, Will Willenborg, Coach Ken Cornell, Jack Nuxoll, Jake Brandt, Greg Utz, Alex Beesley, Joseph Kabbes, Makayla Koenig, Emma Niebrugge, Grace Zeller, Mariam Khalil and Whitley McHugh.

The Bullpups handed Paris Crestwood a 38-22 loss. St. Anthony trailed Paris Crestwood 6-2 after the first period but came roaring back for a 13-0 second quarter run. The two teams scored seven points each in the third quarter before St. Anthony had a 16-9 final period run.

Deters scored 21 for the winners while Walsh chipped in with seven. The Bullpups improve to 13-7 and will now meet either Altamont or Nokomis in the St. Anthony Sectional Wednesday, January 30 at 6 p.m. The winner advances to the state tournament.

At Assumption

Teutopolis blasted Arthur-Lovington Wednesday evening in the Class 7-3A Assumption Central A&M Regional.

T-town stepped out to a 10-3 opening quarter lead and led 25-5 at halftime. T-town then had a 20-11 second half run.

Lee Hardiek was the lone player for the Wooden Booties with 14 but Collin Funneman chipped in with eight and Jackson Goeckner and Ethyn Dust with seven each.

T-town will now take on Assumption Central A&M at 6 p.m. today for the regional championship.

At Effingham

Effingham picked up its 14th straight victory during eighth-grade A play against Sigel St. Michael Wednesday evening. The Mustangs won 62-43 to improve to 19-1 on the season.

Effingham led 31-18 at halftime. Donaldson tallied 23, Beals 12 and Wolfe 10 for the winners. Donaldson led in rebounds with six. Beals, Koenig and Osborn had two steals each.

Effingham is back in action tonight against Carlyle in A and B play.
