Effingham Junior High School claimed two wins over Altamont in boys basketball competition Thursday.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest, 48-11. Effingham took a 30-5 opening half lead.

Raddatz tallied 10 for the winners. Carl led Altamont with five.

In eighth-grade play, Effingham downed Altamont 61-32. The Mustangs led 31-20 at halftime then had a 20-4 third quarter run.

Wolfe tallied 18 while Pontious added 12 and Donaldson 11 for the winners. Wolfe and Westendrof had three steals each. Estraba led in rebounds with five.

Altamont was led by Eirhart with 12.

At Shelbyville

Effingham St. Anthony was a winner in both contests over Shelbyville Thursday.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade game, 29-22. Shelbyville led all through the first three quarters and stood at 22-20 going into the final period. St. Anthony rallied with a 9-0 run to pull out the win.

Colin Westendorf led St. Anthony with nine points.

In eighth-grade action, the Bullpups pushed ahead 20-14 at halftime then had a 31-22 second half.

M. Sager tallied 16 while G. Sehy added 15 for the Bullpups.

At Shelbyville

At Effingham

Dieterich came calling at Effingham Sacred Heart and handed the Shamrocks two losses Thursday.

Dieterich was a 35-18 winner in the seventh-grade game. Dieterich stepped out to a 13-2 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Dieterich was led by Gephart with 13 points and Jack Holste with 12.

Sacred Heart was led by Noah Biggs with 14.

In eighth-grade action, Dieterich claimed a 35-24 win. Dieterich led 11-8 at halftime and 22-16 going into the final quarter.

Britton scored 16 and Kidd 13 for the winners. Sacred Heart was led by D. Ohman with seven.

At Strasburg

Teutopolis captured two wins over Stewardson-Strasburg in action Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade contest, 67-9. T-town held a 36-2 halftime lead.

Ethan R. Thoele and Evan Waldhoff had eight points each. There were a total of 15 players that scored for T-town.

Stew-Stras was led by Gracey with seven as the squad dropped to 6-12.

In eighth-grade play, T-town captured a 39-26 victory. T-town held a 21-15 halftime lead.

The Shoes were led by Caleb Siemer with 15 and Brendan Niebrugge with 12. Stew-Stras was led by Nothaus and J. Wittenberg with nine each. The squad suffered its first loss and is now 16-1.

Jasper County and Cumberland split victories Thursday evening.

Jasper County picked up the seventh-grade win, 49-12. Jasper County held a 24-10 halftime lead then had a 21-0 third quarter.

Flowers tallied 14 for the winners. McMechan led Cumberland with six. Jasper County improved to 8-7.

In eighth-grade play, Cumberland was a 42-22 winner. Cumberland swept out to a 31-6 halftime lead.

Hendrix scored 18 while Boldt added 10 for the winners. Reynolds led Jasper County (3-13) with nine.

At Newton

At Newton

New Hebron handed Newton St. Thomas two losses in competition Thursday evening.

New Hebron was a 44-9 winner in seventh-grade play. New Hebron held a 24-9 halftime lead and held St. Thomas scoreless in the third period.

St. Thomas was led by S. Ochs with 12 points.

In the eighth-grade game, New Hebron picked up a 41-34 victory. New Hebron led 22-17 at halftime and 34-23 going into the final quarter.

Buerster led St. Thomas with 19 points.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City defeated Neoga twice in action Thursday.

CHBC won the seventh-grade game, 24-12. CHBC had a 13-6 halftime lead. Carson Evans scored 10 for the winners. Neoga was led by Bullock with five.

In the eighth-grade contest, CHBC claimed a 49-13 victory. Ten players scored the winners led by Kenny Robbins and Trevor Theis with 10 each.

Neoga was led by Hennesay with six points.

At Cowden
