Teutopolis picked up two victories over Effingham in boys junior high school basketball action Thursday evening.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade game, 40-8. T-town held the Mustangs scoreless in the second quarter to take a 24-4 opening half lead.

Evan Waldhoff led the Shoes with 11 points. Effingham was led by Pals with four.

In eighth-grade action, T-town claimed a 41-30 win. The Shoes led 23-13 at halftime. Logan Roepke tallied 14 for the winners while James Niebrugge added 13. Effingham was led by Donaldson with 11.

At Newton

Effingham St. Anthony captured an eighth-grade victory over Newton St. Thomas Thursday evening.

The Bullpups edged out to a 7-5 opening quarter lead then pushed that to 21-10 at halftime and 35-16 going into the final quarter.

M. Sager tallied nine while G. Sehy scored seven for the Bullpups. St. Thomas was led by Bierman with 15.

At Effingham

Effingham Sacred Heart played host to South Central and split victories Thursday.

In seventh-grade play, the Shamrocks picked up a 30-15 win. Sacred Heart scored 15 points in each half.

Noah Biggs led the way with 15 points. South Central was led by Markley with seven.

South Central then took the eighth-grade contest, 43-22. South Central held a 33-10 halftime lead.

Watwood led the way in scoring with 19 points while Dodson added 17. The Shamrocks were led by Tegeler with 12 and McDevitt with 10.

At Patoka

Altamont Lutheran traveled to Patoka and picked up two victories.

Altamont Lutheran took a 45-28 win in seventh-grade action. Lutheran trailed 9-8 after the opening quarter but got on track with a 13-3 second period and never looked back.

Dylan Elam tallied 14 for the winners.

In eighth-grade action, ALIS edged Patoka, 65-62. ALIS trailed 29-27 at halftime then had a 20-17 third quarter to pull ahead 47-46 going into the final quarter where they had an 18-16 edge.

Logan Cornett scored a whopping 38 points while Avery Jahraus chipped in with 18.

At Strasburg

Stewardson-Strasburg and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City each picked up a victory Thursday evening.

CHBC took the seventh-grade contest, 39-20 with a 10-2 opening quarter run. Wojcik led the way for the winners with 11. Manhart led Stew-Stras (1-3) with eight.

In the eighth-grade game, Stew-Stras stepped out to a 36-10 halftime lead and went on for a 48-16 victory.

Stew-Stras had two players hit double digits, J. Wittenberg with 17 and A. Wittenberg with 13. Bain led CHBC with eight. Stew-Stras is 2-0 in National Trail Conference play, 3-0 overall.
