Effingham played host to Charleston and claimed two victories in girls junior high school basketball action Thursday.
The Mustangs claimed the seventh-grade contest, 29-12. EJHS had a 14-7 halftime lead and held Charleston scoreless in the final quarter.
Volpi led the way for Effingham with 11 points while Hodge chipped in with 10.
In the eighth-grade contest, Effingham picked up a 31-26 win. The Mustangs led 19-7 at halftime then couldn't score in the third quarter while Charleston pulled within 19-15.
The Mustangs were led by Ella Niebrugge with 17 points.

At Dieterich
Two games were contested in the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Tournament Thursday evening.
Sigel St. Michael handed North Clay (Louisville) a loss in winner bracket action while Altamont defeated South Central, 41-27.
Tonight's games feature Dieterich against Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at 6 in consy play followed by Brownstown/St. Elmo against Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor at 7:15 in winner bracket action.
St. Michael advances to the championship game Saturday at 11:30 a.m. against either Brownstown/St. Elmo or Stew-Stras/Windsor. North Clay dropped into the third place contest at 10:15 against the loser of the BSE vs. SSW contest.
Altamont will play for the consolation championship Saturday at 9 a.m. against either Dieterich or CHBC. Those two teams play tonight at 6.
