BEECHER CITY -- Beecher City High School had three players score in double figures as the Eagles downed Brownstown 73-47 in National Trail Conference play Tuesday evening.

Doug Krueger tallied 22 while Donnie Riley had 17 and Brady Barnes 12. Krueger scored eight and Riley seven in the opening quarter 22-8 run. The Eagles held a 32-19 halftime lead and a 53-31 third period advantage.

Brownstown also had three players in double figures. Jacob Behrends scored 20, Matt Sefton and Austin Hunter had 10 each. The Bombers drop to 7-6 on the season.

At Windsor

Cowden-Herrick trailed Windsor throughout the opening half but came back to pull out a 50-32 National Trail Conference win.

Windsor led 14-9 after the opening quarter and 26-19 at halftime. The Hornets then had a 15-4 third period run and outscored the Blue Devils 16-2 in the final period.

Luke Moore tallied 18 for the winners while teammates Tyson Morgason and Colton Burrus scored nine each. Windsor was led by Alex Allen with 12.

Stewardson-Strasburg picked up a 55-32 National Trail Conference win over South Central.

The score was knotted after the first quarter, but the Comets led 25-21 at halftime. South Central managed only 11 points in the second half.

Leading the Comets were Justin Fulk with 16 and Brandon Helmuth with 13. Stew-Stras improves to 3-0 in the conference, 8-6 overall.

Devin Falbe came off the bench to score 19 points and lead Teutopolis to a 59-33 win over Mattoon.

The Wooden Shoes got off to a great start against the Green Wave with a 14-6 opening quarter run. Jared Waldhoff tallied four and Falbe five in the quarter.

T-town then held a 28-17 halftime lead as Falbe scored seven and Derek Smith five in the second period. The Shoes went on for a 31-16 second half run. Smith chipped in with 16 points, connecting on three trifectas in the contest as the Shoes hit six.

Mattoon was led by Grant Speer with 13.

Marshall edged Newton 51-50 in Little Illini Conference action Tuesday evening.

The Eagles jumped out to a 17-9 opening quarter lead and still held a 31-28 halftime lead. Marshall came back with an 11-7 third period run to pull ahead and held onto that lead through the final quarter.

Marshall hit 15 of 27 field goals and was nine of 15 at the line. Newton was 17 of 33 from the field and seven of 10 at the line.

Keegan Steele led Marshall with 15 and Taylor Mauerer added 12. Newton was led by Luke Stone with 15 points and eight rebounds, Dylan Davidson with 14 points and six assists and Keith Butler with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Vandalia stepped out early and went on to down Altamont 58-36 in a non-conference contest.

The Vandals led 24-16 at halftime then had a 26-11 third period run. Wells tallied 17 and Harter 11 for the winners.

Two players hit double figures for the winners. Levi Maxey tallied 16 and Connor Beasley 15. Bealsey and Garrett Bartels pulled down seven rebounds each. Bartels had five assists. Beasley added two blocks.

Woodlawn trailed North Clay 11-6 after the opening period but came roaring back with a 22-6 second period run to lead 28-17 at halftime. Woodlawn then outscored the Cardinals 37-14 in the second half.

G. Owens tallied 19 and Isaac 16 for the winners. North Clay was led by Nathan Micklautz with 10.

Flora led 34-26 at hafltime then had a 23-20 second half edge. The Wolves were led by Leib with 16, Pearce with 14 and Shehorn with 14. Cumberland was led by Trevor Brumleve, a 6-foot-2 senior, with 16.
