Lady Bulldogs Down North Clay

The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs played a good defensive contest and then translated those stops into buckets in defeating the North Clay Lady Cardinals 45-27.  The game at the Enlow Center was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com. 

St. Anthony limited North Clay to 11 shots from the field in the first half and just four baskets.  The Bulldogs led 10-4 after the first quarter and then outscored North Clay 18-5 in the second half to lead the contest 28-9 at halftime.  North Clay actually outscored the Bulldogs 18-17 in the second half, but the game was decided by then.  St. Anthony at one point had a 24-point lead.

The Lady Bulldogs made 20 of 58 shots from the field and four of eight from the line while committing 15 turnovers, grabbing 31 rebounds and hitting on just one of eight three-point tries.

The Lady Cardinals made just eight shots in 29 tries while hitting 11 of 21 from the line.  The Cardinals turned the ball over 24 times and pulled down just 15 rebounds and missed their only two three-point tries.

Megan Nuxoll paced St. Anthony with 15 points.  The sophomore also grabbed eight rebounds.  Also for St. Anthony: Makayla Walsh 9 points, Morgan Gardewine 7, Kate Richards 6, Melissa Bushur 4 and Lexie Niebrugge and Lauren Wendt 2 each.

Rachel Smith scored 14 points to lead North Clay.  Also for the Lady Cardinals: Teehanna Wyatt 8, Carleigh Yeager 2, and Kortney Stanfield and Carrsan Bible 1 each.

St. Anthony improved to 6-5 on the season with their second win in a row while North Clay fell to 6-5.

North Clay won the JV game 26-20.  Brown led St. Anthony with six points while Carrsan Bible scored 10 points to lead North Clay.
