Altamont High School handed St. Elmo/Brownstown a 74-40 loss in National Trail Conference boys basketball action Friday.

The Indians stepped out to a 15-8 opening quarter lead and led 32-22 at halftime and 60-34 going into the final quarter.

Mitchell Stevenson tallied 25 points while Alek Biggs added 22 and Aiden Jahraus 10 for the Indians.

SEB was led by Andy Goldsborough with 12.

In the junior varsity game, Altamont won 85-76.

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged out to a 17-14 opening quarter lead and that lead was the same three points at halftime and in the third period. The Hatchets then had a 15-11 final quarter for the 48-41 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in National Trail Conference play Friday evening.

Three players hit double figures for the winners. Christian Kessler led with 15 while Jackson Miller and Isaac Kramer had 11 each.

CHBC was led by Keegan Martin and Marshall Nohren with 12 each. CHBC drops to 5-1 in the NTC, 19-6 overall.

Windsor/Stew-Stras is now 4-3 in the conference, 12-12 overall.

WSS won the junior varsity game, 62-29.

South Central edged Mulberry Grove, 45-44 in action Friday evening.

The Cougars trailed Mulberry Grove 16-11 after the opening quarter and 26-22 at hafltime. Mulberry Grove held a 38-30 lead going into the final quarter. That's when South Central nailed three baskets that included a three-pointer, and hit eight of 10 at the line for a 15-6 margin and claimed the victory.

Three players scored in double figures for the Cougars. Logan Lotz and Hunter Brandt scored 11 each while Trent Geiler chipped in with 10.

Newton fell victim to Olney in Little Illini Conference action Friday evening, 62-51.

Olney held a 29-22 halftime lead and led 44-34 going into the final quarter.

Olney had four players hit double figures led by Zuber with 15.

Newton was led by Nick Cohorst with 19 while Zach Jansen added 12.

The  Eagles drop to 5-2 in the LIC, 17-7 overall.

Cumberland came back to edge Oblong in action Friday evening, 50-49.

Oblong held a 23-20 halftime lead and led 34-32 going into the final quarter. Cumberland's Zach Wolke knocked in two three-pointers and finished with seven in the final period while Myles Gerhardt nailed a three-pointer and a free throw as the Pirates had an 18-15 run to pull out the victory.

Cumberland was led by Tyson Magee with 19, Wolke with 13 and Gerhardt with 10.
