Lady Shoes Win at St. Anthony

The Teutopolis Lady Shoes posted a hard-fought 42-23 win over the St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs at the Enlow Center Monday night.  The game was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com.  Watch for video of the game here later Tuesday.

The game was close in the first half.  Makayla Walsh hit a jumper in the lane to give St. Anthony an 8-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.  T-Town started to pull away in the second period, outscoring the Bulldogs 13-6 to take a 19-14 halftime lead.  It was still a nine-point game after three quarters with T-Town on top 27-18, but the Lady Shoes outscored St. Anthony 15-5 in the final period to post the 19-point victory.

T-Town made 45% of its shots, hitting 14 of 31 as well as 12 of 17 from the line.  T-Town turned the ball over 15 times but grabbed 23 rebounds and made two of four three-point shots.

St. Anthony made just 30% of its shots, nine of 30, and made just five of 14 foul shots.  The Bulldogs turned the ball over 17 times and pulled down 17 rebounds while missing all four of their three-point attempts.

Madeline Hartke led all scorers with 13 points for the Lady Shoes.  Also for T-Town: Anna Hartke 7, Danielle Repking 6, Cierra Thompson 5, Jessica Schumacher and Chelsey Hardiek 4 each, and Janelle Gebben 3.

Makayla Walsh, who didn't start due to an injury, still led St. Anthony with 7 points.  Also for St. Anthony: Melissa Bushur 6, Megan Nuxoll 4, Kate Richards 3, Lauren Wendt 2 and Lexie Niebrugge 1.

Teutopolis improved to 8-2 on the season with the win, while St. Anthony slipped to 4-5.

T-Town won the JV game 50-16 with Michelle Schmidt leading the way for Teutopolis with 10 points.
