Dieterich Downs Bulldogs in OT

The Dieterich Movin Maroons outscored the St. Anthony Bulldogs 13-7 in overtime to post a 68-62 victory Friday night. The game at Dieterich was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com

Although it was close, St. Anthony led or was tied with Dieterich throughout the first half. The Bulldogs were up 16-11 after the first quarter and still led 26-24 at halftime. St. Anthony twice held an eight-point lead in the first half, but could never get the advantage to double digits.

Dieterich made a move in the third quarter, outscoring St. Anthony 19-12 to lead 43-38 heading to the final regulation period.

St. Anthony, though, regrouped and with 20 seconds left in regulation held a five-point lead, 55-50. Dieterich got a basket to pull within 55-52 and the Bulldogs missed the front end of a one-and-one. Dieterich got the rebound and moved the ball downcourt. Callaway Campton got off a three-point shot with two hands in his face and drilled it for the tie. St. Anthony got the ball and tried a desperation heave but it missed and it was overtime at Dieterich.

The Movin Maroons then got a quick bucket at the start of the extra frame and never surrendered the lead, making enough foul shots down the stretch to secure the victory.

Dieterich shot 59% from the field, 23 of 39 including 7 of 11 threes. The Maroons made 15 of 21 foul shots, pulled down 22 rebounds and turned the ball over just 11 times.

St. Anthony shot 47% from the floor, 25 of 53 including 8 of 21 threes. The Bulldogs made six of eight foul shots, grabbed 21 rebounds and turned the ball over only six times.

Ryan Radloff led Dieterich with 20 points on 8 of 14 shooting with five rebounds. Campton finished with 16 points on 6 of 9 from the field. Bryce McClain scored 11 points, 2 of 3 from the field and 6 of 9 from the line. Devin Flach scored 9 points including 5 of 6 from the line. Tyler Higgs scored 7 points and led Dieterich with 8 rebounds. Evan Bohnhoff came off the bench in the first half to score five points.

Alex Deters led St. Anthony with 20 points including four threes, making 7 of 11 shots overall. Adam Levitt scored 15 points on 6 of 11 shooting. Jack Nuxoll added 13 points on 6 of 12 shooting. Alex Beesley and Luke Ludwig each scored 7 points. Bulldogs point guard Cade Walsh didn't score a point, but led St. Anthony with five rebounds.

Dieterich improved to 6-3 on the season, while St. Anthony dropped to 7-2.

St. Anthony won the JV game 49-35. Bryson Wall led the JV Bulldogs with 16 points, Jaccob Dust scored 11 points, and Quinton Milleville added 10 points. Evan Bohnhoff led Dieterich with 12 points.

St. Anthony won a freshman game that started the evening, 49-28.
