Effingham St. Anthony High School dropped to 3-3 on the season with a 50-40 loss at the hands of Casey-Westfield Tuesday evening in girls basketball action.

The Bulldogs took a 13-8 opening quarter lead and held a 22-18 halftime tally. But here came Casey-Westfield. The Warriors went on a third quarter tear and held St. Anthony to one basket in the third period while moving ahead 35-24.

St. Anthony came back with a 16-15 edge in the final period but that third quarter was the game-changer.

Clare McHugh led the way with 13 points for St. Anthony while Katie Rogers chipped in with 10.

"We need to refocus at practice and bring it for the two hours we are there," said St. Anthony Coach Bart Wiedman. "We keep making the same offensive mistakes at practice and they are rolling over to the game."

St. Anthony won the junior varsity contest, 31-7.
