SUMMERSVILLE -- Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School claimed two victories at the Summersville Shootout Saturday.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade contest over Germantown 49-19. St. Anthony held a 21-7 first quarter lead and led 36-12 at halftime.

Three players hit double digits, JW Willenborg with 11, Michael Martelli with 11 and Griffin Sehy with 10.

In the eighth-grade contest, the Bullpups edged Albers 59-52. Albers took a 15-10 opening quarter lead and led 23-19 at halftime. St. Anthony pulled within 35-30 going into the final quarter then had a 29-17 final period surge to pull out the win.

Josh Blanchette scored 16, Kyle Stewart 15 and Brody Niebrugge 13 for the winners.

At Altamont

Altamont played host to St. Elmo/Brownstown and claimed two victories in action Friday.

In the seventh-grade contest, Altamont took an 18-6 first half lead then had a 24-18 second half for the 42-24 victory.

Altamont was led by Kollmann with14 points and Hammer with 12. SEB was led by Campbell with 10.

In eighth-grade play, Altamont won 28-18. Altamont held a 15-9 first halftime lead. Suckow tallied 11 while Conner added nine.

SEB was led by Powell with seven.

At Strasburg

Greenville claimed the championship of the Stewardson-Strasburg Eighth-Grade Basketball Tournament Saturday.

In the opening contest, Stew-Stras defeated Cumberland 42-27. The score was tied at 15-15 at halftime before Stew-Stras then had a 27-12 second half.

Vonderheide, Wernsing and Kinkelaar scored nine points each for the winners. Cumberland was led by Martinez with 12 and  McElravy with 11.

In the second contest, Greenville handed North Clay (Louisville) a 49-26 loss.

Greenville led 28-11 at halftime. Turner tallied 13 and Schaufelberger 12 for the winners. North Clay was led by Clifton with nine.

In the third place contest, North Clay downed Cumberland 48-20. North Clay led by only two points at halftime then had a 23-5 third period run.

Weidner scored 15, Clifton 10 and Ingram 10 for the winners. Martinez led Cumberland with eight.

In the championship, Greenville won over Stewardson-Strasburg 40-24. Stew-Stras led 14-12 at halftime but Greenville broke the game open with a 21-3 third quarter.

Turner tallied 11 and Grull 10 for the winners. Kinkelaar led Stew-Stras with six.
