Junior High Boys Roundup From November 27

SALEM -- Effingham split with Salem Franklin Park in junior high boys basketball action Tuesday evening.

Salem Franklin Park claimed a 68-46 win over the Mustangs in seventh-grade action. Effingham started strong but could not overcome a poor second quarter in which they turned the ball over 12 times leading to 25 Salem points.

Ryan Sandifer led in scoring with 13 points for the Mustangs. Adam Levitt had four rebounds. Sandifer and Matt Robinson had three steals each as the Mustangs drop to 5-3.

In eighth-grade play, Efifngham claimed a 69-51 victory to improve to 7-1. Wolfe tallied 22 and had four steals. Donaldson scored 16 and pulled down 13 rebounds. Beals scored 11. Effingham led 30-28 at halftime then had a 24-9 third period run.

Sigel St. Michael claimed two victories over visiting Effingham Sacred Heart. St. Michael won 35-11 in seventh-grade action.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Michael claimed a 44-32 win. Brock Buenker led the way with 13 points while Wolke chipped in with 11 and Brant Buenker had 10.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis captured two wins over Marshall. T-town won the seventh-grade contest 25-20. Lee Hardiek and Ethyn Dust tallied nine points each for the winners.

In eighth-grade action, T-town was a 48-35 winner. Mitch Hardiek scored 12 while Chris Ungrund, Blake Mette and Lucas Deters had eight each.
