St. A Wins Twice, Sacred Heart, Effingham Claim One; Area Roundup

ROBINSON -- Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School picked up two victories in girls basketball competition Monday evening over Robinson.

In seventh-grade action, the Bullpups downed Robinson 14-9. Danielle Having tallied five to lead St. Anthony.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony won 32-21. The Bullpups took a 15-6 first half lead and led 23-12 going into the final quarter. Abbie Schmidt tallied 12 and Jenna Woltman 10 for the winners.

At Sacred Heart

Effingham Sacred Heart picked up a victory in seventh-grade play. North Clay held a 6-0 first quarter lead and led 8-4 at halftime. The Shamrocks trailed 16-9 going into the final quarter then outscored North Clay 12-3 to pull out the 21-19 victory.

Carie led the winners with nine points. North Clay was led by B. Gullidge with six.

In the eighth-grade contest, North Clay was a 21-15 winner. Martin tallied nine for the winners. S. Webster scored seven for Sacred Heart.

Effingham split with Altamont. The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest 34-23. Myers tallied 12 and Ramos 11 for the winners. McHugh led Altamont with 15.

In eighth-grade action, Altamont won 27-14, stepping out to a 17-6 first half lead. Biggs scored 13 for the winners. Wright and Conkling led Efifngham with four each.

Teutopolis came calling and picked up two wins over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick.

T-town was a 24-9 winner in sevneth-grade play. Marianna Hemmen tallied five for the winners. The T-town B team improves to 1-1.

In eighth-grade play, T-town won 21-4. Shelby Thompson scored seven. The Wooden Booties B squad improves to 2-0.

Jasper County picked up a sefvneth-grade victory over Casey-Westfield.

Jasper County stepped out to a 10-0 first quarter lead and went on for a 26-6 win. Halley Powers tallied eight points.

In eighth-grade action, Jasper County was a 39-16 winner. Ariel Richards scored 19.

In an eighth-grade game Saturday, Jasper County won 58-34.
