Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School handed Shelbyville two losses in boys basketball action Thursday evening.
In the seventh-grade contest, the Bullpups won 52-27. St. Anthony held a 26-12 halftime lead and had a 23-7 third quarter.
Three players hit double digits, Kyle Stewart with 15, Angelo Mendella with 11 and Brody Niebrugge with 11. The Bullpups are now 11-5 overall.
In eighth-grade action, St. Anthony picked up a 45-35 victory. The Bullpups held a 24-18 halftime lead and had a 12-9 third quarter.
Walsh tallied 18 and Antrim 17 for the winners.

At Effingham
Effingham Junior High School handed Altamont two losses in action Thursday.
The Mustangs won the seventh-grade game 46-9. Volpi tallied 21 points for the Mustangs who improve to 3-12. Altamont was led by Winn with five.
In eighth-grade action, Duncan and Wolfe provided the one-two scoring punch for Effingham with 22 and 20 points respectively in the 57-29 win over Altamont.
Effingham improved to 10-5 on the season.
Altamont was led by Eirhart with 14 points.

Teutopolis came calling and handed Stewardson-Strasburg two losses Thursday evening.
In the seventh-grade contest, the Wooden Shoes won 45-31 with a 32-11 first half run. Busher tallied 14 and K. Althoff 12 for the winners. Stew-Stras was led by Kirby with 10.
In eighth-grade competition, T-town won 49-15. The Shoes held Stew-Stras scoreless in the first half with a 38-0 run. Koester tallied 14 and Weidner 10 for the winners. Sayers scored 12 for Stew-Stras.

Jasper County and Cumberland split victories Thursday evening.
Jasper County was a 39-28 winner in seventh-grade play. Schafer tallied 17 for the winners. Martinez led Cumberland with 13.
In eighth-grade play, Cumberland was a 53-38 winner. Cumberland took a 24-21 halftime lead then had a 29-17 second half. Geier tallied 16 and Einrhorn 10 for the winners. Jasper County was led by Napier with 16, Hemmen with 12 and Cutts with 11.

Sigel St. Michael downed North Clay (Louisville) in both games Thursday evening.
In the seventh-grade contest, the Sharpshooters claimed a 46-23 victory. St. Michael led 24-6 at halftime. Croy tallied 18 while Niebrugge added 14 for the winners. North Clay was led by Dawkins and Anthony with five each.
In the eighth-grade contest, St. Michael won 50-21. The Sharpshooters led 22-10 at halftime then had a 28-11 second half run. Ruholl tallied 25 for the winners. North Clay was led by Bible with eight.
