T-town splits, BCCH Drops Two, Stew-Stras, St. Michael Split

MATTOON -- Teutopolis Junior High School split with Mattoon in girls basketball play Monday evening.

T-town lost the seventh-grade contest 36-15. Marianna Hemmen led the Wooden Booties with eight points. T-town drops to 1-1.

In eighth-grade action, T-town claimed a 33-28 victory. T-town trailed Mattoon 6-4 after the opening quarter but came back with a 19-8 second period run. Raegan Drees and Shelby Thompson scored 10 points each for the winners while Jamie Sandschafer added nine.

T-town improves to 2-0 and will return to action tonight hosting Charleston with the seventh-grade contest starting at 6 p.m.

At Beecher City

Nokomis claimed two victories over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick.

Nokomis won the sevneth-grade contst 25-12. BCCH drops to 1-3. Taylor Oldham led with six points.

In eighth-grade play, Nokomis claimed a 31-14 victory. BCCH falls to 1-3. Skylar Morrison scored in double figures with 11.

At Strasburg

Sigel St. Michael and Stewardson-Strasburg split victories Monday evening.

St. Michael was a 23-11 winner in seventh-grade play. St. Michael held an 8-5 lead at halftime then outscored Stew-Stras 15-6 in the second half.

Jansen led St. Michael with seven points while Davis led Stew-Stras, also with seven points. Stew-Stras drops to 1-3.

In eighth-grade action, Stew-Stras was a 35-32 winner. St. Michael stepped out to a 13-4 opening quarter lead but Stew-Stras battled back within 19-18 at halftime. Stew-Stras then outscored St. Michael 17-13 in the second half.

B. Schlechte tallied 28 points for the winners. Hotze led St. Michael with 12. Stew-Stras improves to 1-3.
