Effingham split victories with Olney in junior high school boys basketball competition Thursday evening.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest 41-14, taking a 23-9 halftime lead. Duncan tallied 12 points for the winners who had 12 players score in the game.

In eighth-grade action, Olney claimed a 44-35 victory. The Mustangs led 10-7 after the opening quarter but Olney came back with a 14-4 second period run.

The Mustangs were led by Pemberton and Utz with seven points each. Effingham drops to 4-9 while Olney is now 9-2.

At Strasburg

Stewardson-Strasburg picked up an eighth-grade win while Neoga claimed the seventh-grade contest.

Neoga took a 24-19 victory. McClure tallied 13 points for the winners. Wernsing led Stew-Stras with 13. Stew-Stras drops to 3-13.

In eighth-grade action, Stew-Stras edged Neoga 29-26 to improve to 4-9. Jesgarz scored 13. Banning tallied 15 for Neoga.

At Strasburg

At Altamont

Altamont claimed wins over Mulberry Grove Thursday evening.

In seventh-grade competition, Altamont was a 49-12 winner. Altamont jumped out to a 23-5 opening quarter lead. Eirhart tallied 19 for the winners.

In eighth-grade competition, Altamont claimed a 53-34 win. Reardon scored 18 for the winners while Gelsinger chipped in with 15.

Newton St. Thomas and Oblong split victories. Oblong won the seventh-grade game 22-18. Schafer led St. Thomas with nine.

In eighth-grade play, St. Thomas picked up a 49-3 victory. St. Thomas leaped out to a 22-1 opening quarter lead. Seth Weber tallied 16 for the winners.

North Clay (Louisville) downed South Central in seventh-grade action and captured an eighth-grade victory.

North Clay won the seventh-grade game 40-23. Ethan Bible tallied 10 for the winners. South Central was led by Dodson with 10.

In eighth-grade play, North Clay was a 60-36 winner. Tyson Jones scored 22 while Luke Fleener added 12 and Coy Crull 10 for the winners. South Central was led by Dodson with 10.
